ABOUT

Moments like Diamonds is the personal blog of Sara Mari, and was created in October 2009. Moments like Diamonds is on-going project featuring articles on Japanese tourist sites, store reviews, food and travel photography and a weekly fashion feature.

The meaning of Moments like Diamonds

I chose the title of this blog based on a quote from the book "The Bread Givers" by Anzia Yezierska. I was assigned to read this book for my introduction to sociology class in the fall of 2009 and as I was reading a particular line stood out to me. To paraphrase the particular quote which I referenced; I am young and my moments are precious like diamonds.

This is said by the main character and narrator of the book, Sara, while she is working at age 23 to complete her high school course work and get into college. I felt not only our names were the same, but also out outlook on life. I feel that we should make the most out of what we have, and live our lives to the fullest while we have the time to do so.

Why I created Moments like Diamonds

I began this blog as a creative outlet, and an on-going activity that I hope will improve my writing and be enjoyable to my readers.

Moments like Diamonds was created for the purposes of sharing my personal photos and daily activities, as well as showcasing my travel photos and experiences. I have a strong focus on Japan and Japanese cultural artifacts in my writing topics, and I love to write about the interesting and cute things I find during my travels.
