Izakaya 和民 = Massive food porn

Beware, it's really a good idea not to look at this post if you are hungry or if you haven't eaten a meal yet haha! I don't often get the chance to write about restaurants or non diet food, but I was able to visit this izakaya with my friend and his friend, so I was able to snap their food haha!

Entering the restaurant

Izakaya 和民 (yeah I'm not sure of the writing in romanji...) is run by the Watami group which own a lot of different businesses, and does food service too. This is a chain of izakaya actually, and they are known for being low cost.

Some of the summer menu items

As you can see in the menu that most of the items are around 400 yen averagely, so you can easily eat here cheaply, even in a group. Of course the point is to go in a group, order many things and share them XD

This is my friend's friend mixing up some champuru, which is an Okinawan specialty featuring goya/bitter melon, in a hot stone bowl. Which cooked the food at out table.

Luckily in this situation it's ok to be on a diet, you can eat a few bites and then let the hungrier/ones with better metabolisms eat the rest. In this way I was able to try lots of new foods!

I will just let you see the food now, since that's the best part - drooling over beautiful food haha!

This is a salad featuring thin cuts of pork and a sesame seed based salad dressing. I ate this mostly, though they added more dressing than I usually use (which is none haha!)

A boiled eggplant with some bonito shreads. Eggplant is one of my (and my friend's) favorite vegetables.

A shrimp, crab and avacado spring roll. It had mayo inside if I recall correctly and the wrapper was quite thick.

Oh gyoza, I love gyoza...I miss it so! hehe. This is the type that is baked in a pan if I am correct.

A tamagoyaki filled with cheese and covered in mentaiko sauce. Doesn't it look deliciously evil?

Pickled octopus mixed with wasabi, yeah sounds a little scary right? haha! And the staple edamame.

Oh my god, the best part of any meal - the dessert! A Belgian waffle with matcha ice cream, whip cream, and anko XDD

And that's what we ate! I wonder if it was enough for the guys. We had fun and we talked about traveling to Nikko (which are some posts I can't wait to write about) The food was good, and the price can't be beat.

This is a chain as I said before, and there are locations all over Tokyo (and Japan) you can browse the list of locations here, and find the one closest to you. I recommend it^^
